About the Festival
Northern Lights Nordic-Baltic Film Festival in Belarus is an annual event that offers the most recent and inspiring films from Northern Europe and Baltic States. The festival is organized and supported by the Office of Nordic Council of Ministries in Lithuania since 2015. In the language of the cinema, the films of the festival tell about life peculiarities of five member states of Nordic Council of Ministers, as well as three Baltic States. Altogether, the festival presents films from Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Denmark, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Faroe Islands and Greenland.
Moreover, Northern Lights Film Festival provides an outstanding industry platform for communication between film professionals and enthusiasts in Belarus. Having the main program in April, the festival also organizes workshops for Belarusian professionals and screens more films, both fictions and docs, in additional programs throughout the year.
During 2015-2019, Northern Lights Nordic Film Festival has taken place in several Belarusian cities and gathered a lot of fans.
Each year bright professionals of Nordic cinema visit Minsk during the festival. Northern Lights Nordic Film Festival in Belarus had already a pleasure to welcome such famous directors as Ole Christian Madsen (HBO/USA), Arto Halonen (the founder of DocPoint Finnish Documentary Film festival) and many more.
Festival’s guests present their films, participate in Q&A sessions and take part in workshops for Belarusian filmmakers. This turns the festival into a unique industry platform for broadening cinematic horizons as well as into the place to network with and get insights on today's film industry professionals. Each year the Festival screens yet more films and invites more guests.
