At the 6th Nordic-Baltic Film Festival "Northern lights", which will be held April 23-30, we will continue last year's initiative — Poster competition of Belarusian Film Festivals! To reflect the idea of the new slogan "LISTEN AND HEAR", the poster design contest should also embrace mutual support and help between Belarusian Film Festivals and representatives of the film community.
The contest is organized with the support of the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival (Czech Republic, Jihlava IDFF), where director or programming director of a winning festival will go for a few days in October 2020 to take part in the Festival Identity
program. A winning poster will also be included into the Best Festival Poster Competition at Jihlava IDFF.
This year's jury includes: the duo of photographers KANAPLEV+LEYDIK, film director Andrey Kutilo, designer Ales Belsky, artist Vasilisa Polyanina and director of the “Northern lights” film festival Volia Chajkouskaya.
Submission deadline — March 31.
All posters submitted for participation will be exhibited in the lobby of the “MIR” cinema during the upcoming festival. The results will be announced on the closing ceremony of the “Northern Lights” on April 30.

As a part of it’s program, Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival has been hosting “Festival Hub” (meeting of International Film Festival) for about 10 years so far.
“Northern Lights” was invited to present itself at the Jihlava Film Festival in 2018 and participated in the “Festival Identity” program in 2019. Together with the Belarusian Festival, Berlinale Talents (Germany), the Pompidou Centre (France), Marché du Film (Cannes, France) and others presented their designs. Experience of cooperation
and friendship in recent years let "Northern lights” make a decision to start a wonderful tradition of a friend Czech Film Festival in Belarus in 2019.
The first Poster Competition of Belarusian Film Festivals was held in May 2019. 12 Belarusian Festivals took part in it!
We recall that this year, traditionally, the film festival will show feature and documentary films (and for the first time — shorts) from Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Besides, "Northern Lights" will invite about 20 foreign guests to Belarus and is planning more than 15 industry platform events.
About 20 films of the main program of the 6th film festival will touch various complicated topics which we sometimes do not even want to hear about. And the festival team in its turn calls you to express empathy and take care of yourself and your loved ones. This is the key message of our new slogan "LISTEN AND HEAR". This year we want to focus on the importance of not only listening but also “hearing”. We want to show that empathy is not about weakness, it is about mutual respect and help.
